Back to School when surrounded by diet culture

The earlier food choices are introduced, the easier it is for children to feel more confident regarding their nutrition.  Introducing different foods to children is the best way to increase variety in their diet.  Having them assist with grocery shopping and preparation of meals and snacks will ignite their curiosity and allow them to invest in their skills and choices and give them an idea of how to naturally following hunger and satiety cues.  The role of the parent is to provide the options, the role of the child is to determine how much to eat until they have a satisfying feeling of fullness.
